Day 3
Holy Spirit
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23
You have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit by the grace of God and upon your confession of your faith in Jesus as your Lord. You have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. You were able to receive the Holy Spirit because the blood of Jesus was shed for you. Jesus had this in His wisdom from the beginning of time: to send the Holy Spirit to His followers, as Jesus was only able to be in one place at a time, but the Holy Spirit now dwells in all those who have faith in Jesus.
This is truly a fascinating truth, that you now have the Spirit of God living on the inside of you. No other god would send their spirit to live in its followers. The great news is that the Holy Spirit is not sent in part but in full and is also God. Yes, the Holy Spirit is God, and He now dwells in you. Let that truth sink into your mind and heart deeply.
[Pause and meditate.]
The Holy Spirit will start to manifest the fruit of the Spirit in your life as you yield to the Spirit: the fruit of love, joy, peace, etc. The Holy Spirit will speak to you; guide, comfort, and teach you; give you boldness, power, and revelation in the Word; and mold you into the image of Jesus. You will want to become familiar with the Holy Spirit as you will want to become friends with Him.
The Holy Spirit speaks only what He hears from Jesus, so He will never speak or do something outside of the Scriptures’ leadership. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, “He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak, and He will tell you things to come” (John 16:13).
As the disciples received the Spirit, as recorded in the Gospel of John, Jesus “breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” (John 20:22). You, too, have received the Holy Spirit. Again, you see the work of the Holy Spirit in Acts 4:
Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. (Acts 4:29-31)
You see the disciples being drenched and clothed with the Holy Spirit as they go from being fearful to bold and demonstrating the power of the Holy Spirit. You, too, can ask the Lord to come upon you in the same way. This was not limited to the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit is the same today, and you need Him to clothe you.
Prayer:
“Thank You, Lord, for sealing me with the Holy Spirit. Thank You that I am the temple of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, I want to be Your friend. Lord, I ask you to saturate me and clothe me with the Holy Spirit. I want the power of the Holy Spirit to work in my life. Amen.”
