Reborn

Day 1

New Creation

____________

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

“Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” Colossians 3:9-10

“Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’” John 3:3

“Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:3-4

“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

When you gave your life to Jesus, your old life and way of thinking died, and you became a new creation. Think about that truth: An old person who was full of lust, pride, gossip, fear, and all other sinful characteristics died. Now you are a new creation in Jesus. This is great news! You don’t have to identify with the person you were before you were born again.

Since you surrendered to Jesus as it says in the scriptures, you were born again. You were born into this world by flesh and blood, and now you have been born again in your spirit. This is something that happens on the inside, and you will start to see the fruit in your life immediately and in the days ahead. You will experience the peace, freedom, joy, and the power of God on the inside of you, no matter the difficulties and temptations you will face in life.

Most of your life you have lived for external pleasures. This could have been the pursuit of fame, sex, drugs, or self-dependence. You have now chosen a new life that doesn’t only live for temporal pleasure that passes away as the day goes by, but you have now chosen a life that is where you can truly live — not something that is fleeting or a continual grasping for in this life. Jesus is eternal life, and you have eternal life now.

You will start to notice that your desires in life will start to change, as God has given you a new heart. This is important to notice, as you will no longer desire to choose a life of sin; you no longer have a bent to sin, but you will desire from the inside to follow the ways of Jesus. This is the new configuration that God has placed inside of you. You are at the beginning of an exciting new life that you have been longing for all your life—excited for all that God has for you in this new life.

Prayer:

“Thank You, God, that I am a new creation. I am no longer bound by a sinful nature. You have given me a new heart, a new life. Help me to follow You by Your Spirit. Thank You for salvation and for all that You did on the cross so that I could have this life in You. Amen.”
